Plate/Rack and Well/Vial Position

Most vendor formats keep not only where the sample was on the plate/in the rack, but also the layout of that container. If that’s the case, after you batch your injections together, you’ll see them in their positions and in the right container size.

But sometimes you’ll see something wrong: either the sample is incorrectly associated with A1 position or the plate dimensions are wrong (the fallback is 384). Possible reasons:

  • Vendor software is misconfigured and doesn’t store this information. Examples: MassLynx incorrect autosampler type (CRI-9443)

  • Vendor software never stores this information

  • Peaksel fails to find the information or it’s in unexpected format

If you think it’s the latter, send us an example to support@elsci.io

Visualizing plate heat maps

At the moment Heat Maps aren’t supported directly, but you can mimic them:

  1. Add an Injection-as-rows table, and select Plate column and Plate row columns. Include other columns that will be responsible for the "heat".

  2. Turn it into a chart, and use Plate column and Plate row for Y and X axes

  3. Choose other columns for the "Color" and "Size"

You just built yourself a heat map, with a bonus: the size can also change, which gives you a yet another dimension.
